Medical Training
Tariq qualified in 1988 from Dundee University Medical School. He subsequently undertook a variety of Senior House Officer posts in and around the Birmingham region, including a period spent as an Anatomy Demonstrator in the University of Birmingham.
Tariq undertook his Specialist Registrar training in Trauma and Orthopaedics in Wales, which included posts in Swansea, Carmarthan, Newport and The Cardiff Royal Infirmary. He was then employed for 6 months as a Specialist Fellow in the renowned Reading Shoulder Unit with Stephen Copeland and Ofer Levy, after which he undertook an AO Fellowship in Salzburg, training under Professor Resch, the President of the European Shoulder Society.
In 2003 Tariq was entered onto the Specialist Register of the GMC. Tariq commenced as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Ealing Hospital in 2003. He is now the Departmental Audit Co-ordinator and the Orthopaedic Co-ordinator for Imperial College Medical Students. He is also an examiner for the Imperial College Final MB BS examinations, as well as sitting on the admissions panel for Imperial College of Medicine.
In addition he is an Honorary lecturer at the British College of Osteopathic Medicine organising the orthopaedic component for the final two years of the college's course.
